Rulers of Russia from Rurik to Nicholas II.

John Sloan
Micha Jelisavcic

This is the cover page for our biographical sketches of the rulers from grand princes of Kyiv to Emperors of all the Russias. We have organized the material in several ways. There are three main ways toview the Rurikid princes; by moving through the geneology charts of each branch of the family and then jumping to the individual prince, or by starting with Rurik in the succession list, scrooling down and then jumping to the description of an individual with links to his family; or by searching in the alphabetical listing of princes for a particular name, then checking the links to his father and sons.
We have prepared a geneology chart for each major family and the site plan diagram showing how these charts are linked. We suggest that views may want to look at this page first to get an overall understanding of the relationships between the individual geneology charts.
The first such geneology chart starting with Rurik is shown below. The majority of individuals shown on these charts are linked between the chart and the individual description, so one may jump back and forth. between chart and individual as well as between individuals.
Below is a link to a chronological listing of the rulers irrespective of family succession each linked to their own relatives. All the individuals are linked to fathers and sons, so one may start anyplace and trace the lineage back and forward.
Below is a chart with links showing only the princes who were recognized as prince of Kyiv. Soon we will have a separate listing of the princes at Novgorod.
Since Mikhail Romanov was not descended from Rurik we have a separate listing of his ancestors from the first mention of their arrival in Muscovy.
We are creating an alphabetical listing of all the princes with links to the descriptions so that readers can search directly for a specific prince but this is still under construction. We hope to add a 'keyword' search capability to enable direct search for an individual name. We are expanding a full chronology table for Russian - Rus - history before 1800. We will soon have lists of the marriages, and a cross reference showing the century in which each prince lived. We will be adding a bibliography shortly.
