The northern half of map sheet# 94 Kan-chou - The important regional city is in the north-east corner next to the Kan-chou River where it splits into several channels before reuniting again and turning more north and west. Here it is seen flowing east and north out of the high mountains to the SW. This was the furtherest east Stein traveled during his second expedition. From here he returned north-west and went along the northern side of the Taklamakan.
