Detail showing British Highland brigade deployed in line engaging Kazan and Souzdal regiments. As each Russian battalion in mass formation faced to meet one of the Highland Regiments the next to the left hit it in flank. Finally as the Souzdal Regiment attempted to intercept the 93rd it was struck by the 79th and driven off. The Russian cavalry did not move to participate. We have several photos of this part of the battlefield showing how the rolling terrain could conceal units.
