1799 - 1802 Commander-in-Chief and Staff -
All generals wear blue coat with buff turnback and facings, yellow buttons and
tricorner cocked hats. Washington with glass wears 3 stars of Lt General and
has slightly different and he has a white plume; Hamilton as senior major
general wears 2 stars and has a black and white plume. Behind him is a
brigadier general with one star and red and white plume. The fourth officer's
shoulder board is not visible but he carries the hat with plume of black, red
and white of the Inspector general and Adjutant general. The general officer to
left rear has the black plume of the Quartermaster general.
