This uniform of Marshal Konyev and his sword
and book is in the special exhibtion to Prince Kutuzov in the Artillery museum.
The reason Marshal Konyev is connected to Kutuzov is that when his army invaded
Silesia during WWII and one of his recon units came across the unexpected
memorial and musem devoted to Kutuzov in a small German town, Konyev
immediately took personal charge and mounted a guard to protect the building
and contents. The Russian occupation forces preserved the museum there until
they withdrew from Poland at which time the contents were transfered to the
Artillery Museum in St Petersburg. So Konyev is largely responsible for the
preservation of the material in this entire exhibition.
