Spaski Tserkov', The Church of the Savior at
Ubori. Similar, thought not so sublime as the one at Fili, is this Church of
the Savior. It is about 20 miles west of Moscow. It was built by the well-known
Russian family, Sheremetev (Petr Vasil'evich Sheremetev), in 1693-97. The
architect was Yakov C. Bukhvostov ( a serf belonging to M. Yu, Tatischev). The
church may be seen from a distance when driving to the nearby village of
Uspenskoye, a popular picnic place on the Moscow River. It was closed after the
revolution and left neglected for many years.
