Tserkov Rozhdestva v Butirkakh around 1900. The church was built in 1682-84 in the Butirski regiment sloboda which is now in a northern suburb of Moscow. This was the regiment commanded by Patrick Gordon that was loyal to Peter the Great. It was the senior regiment in the Russian army. Later it was moved to the Caucasus corps and renamed, but it survived in the regimental lists until 1917. Today only the lowest sections of the bell tower remains and there is a building between it and the church proper.
