Very few young painters tried their hand at landscape, and one of the first known to do it was Fedor Yakovlevich Alekseyev, (1753-1824). He traveled around the country and painted its towns and cities. His "Granitovaya Palata" gives us the view of the central part of the Kremlin with the old palace and the three cathedrals around it, the way it looked in 1810. (See previous article on Alekseyev. |
