In addition, at the beginning of the 13th
century Vsyevolod's wife, Princess Maria Shvarnova, founded in Vladimir the
Convent of the Assumption, better known as the Princess Convent (Kniaginin
Monastir). The old cathedral was replaced by a new one three centuries later.
It has well-preserved and interesting frescoes, painted by tsar's izograph Mark
Matveyev and his assistants in the 17th century. Princess Maria and other
members of the royal family are buried there.
