He was the appanage prince of Izyaslav. His
father was Boris Vsyeslavich, prince of Drutsk. He
married a daughter of Mstislav I Vladimirovich,
prince of Kyiv. There is no information about their children. The family is
shown on this chart. It was in 1127 that Mstislav
attacked Polotsk the first time and he attacked again in 1129 on which occasion
he exiled several of Bryachislav's uncles. His father died in 1128. His
brother, Rogvolod, was driven out of Polotsk in
1152 by their cousin, Rostislav Glebovich.
