He was the son of Mikhail Rostislavich, Ban of Serbia-Mach' and Maria, daughter of Ivan Asen, Bulgarian Tsar. He became Tsar of Bulgaria (1280-89). He married Maria, daughter of Mikhail Paleolog, Byzantine Emperor. He is shown on this family chart.
