Please place your
cursor over the names to see which ones have direct links to expanded
information. For Mikhail Davidovich's family origins in the marriages of
Rostislav Mstislavich please see this chart. All
individuals in turn are linked directly with fathers and sons so that one may
move through the entire Rurikid dynasty.
Mikhail Davidovich began the line of Yaroslavl princes who were given a
separate votchina - the Mologa principality. The principality was then divided
by his sons when they created udels for several of their sons. The Mologa
principality was on the north-west edge of Moscow and east edge of Tver, thus
it was automatically involved in the momentous struggle for supremacy. The
Mologa princes opted for Moscow. Eventually of course the whole principality
was incorporated into Muscovy and the 3rd and 4th generation princes after
Mikhail became service princes of the Muscovite tsar. The individual
biographical entries contain some details.
