The Bogoyavlenski (Epiphany) Cathedral (1690's) of the 13th century monastery of the same name is being restored. The white nalichniki, window surrounds and other baroque decorations set of the crimson walls. It is in Kitai Gorod just a block behind GUM, but many tour guides skip showing it.
