The Luzhniki stadium is in the center of this
view over Moscow from the Sparrow hills on a very dark and rainy day. The bend
in thee Moscow river is below us in the trees. The bell tower and cathedral of
the Novodevichi Convent are visible to the left. Several of the Stalin
skyscrapers including the Foreign Ministry and the Ukraine hotel are visible on
the horizon. The stadium is now privately owned by the owners of the Torpedo
soccer team. To the left is the flat building of the Sports Palace and Museum
of Physical Culture.
