Detail of map 15 in Innermostasia - shows Stein's route south around the highest part of the Kun-lun during the second expedition when he was searching for the headwater of the Kurung-kash river and also the Keriya River. He found that the Keriya river sources were relatively due south of the river's route into the Taklamakan but the sources of the Kurung-kash were surprisingly far east of its exit from the mountains south of Khotan.
