Mausoleum of Tokhtamish's daughter, Dzhanike
- Khanim, who came here to live when her father was driven out of his throne at
the Kipchak Khanate at Sarai. He fled to Lithuania and then managed to get back
into southern Siberia where he died. Dzhanike-Khanim was a heroine of Kypchak
legend and songs. She made the pilgrimage to Mecca. Soon after her rule here
the Girei family declared their independence from the Great Horde at Sarai and
founded the Crimean Khanate. They established their base here before moving
into the valley at Bakhchsarai. Sunlight is reflecting from something at the
left edge of the photograph.
