Located next to Scythian town on bluff overlooking the Black Sea and mouth
of the Alma River. Pavel Lyashuk took us there after we completed a thorough
walk over the Alma battlefield. The location is at the top of the bluff that
the French climbed during the battle.
History
We have not yet obtained a detailed history of this particular Scythian
town. At present the focus of the archeology effort is in the necropolis rather
than the town itself. Here we have the article on Scythia from the 11th edition of Encyclopedia
Britannica.
Illustrations
Pending acquisition of more information we can provide at least these
photos of the archeology work in progress in August 1997.
