SUDAK - AREA MAP

Sudak has a fine sheltered position but not a good harbor. Nevertheless it became the major seaport known as Sogdai already for the Alans and then for the Kypchak Tatars. The Genoese took the area and built the impressive fortress seen today. Kutlak was a Bosporian kingdom fortified outpost. And Kaffa was the main Genoese port.
