In this view south from on top of the Kornilov bastion at Malakov we see the location of siege lines in front of the white buildings at the left edge of the photo and can get an impression of the vavine that passes behind the trees off photo on the right. The buildings on the right edge are up on the next ridge on which was Bastion 3 (The Redan in British nomenclature)
