THE CHURCH OF THE 12 APOSTLES

Church of the 12 Apostles, this was the Patriarch's private church, on the upper floor of the large building. In it also was the Patriarch's Palace which had the Krestovy Chamber (reception hall) and monk's cells. The building was completed by architects Okhlebib, Konstantinov, and Makayev in 1656 for Patriarch Nikon, and repaired after a fire in 1680. But former patriarchs and the metropolitans before them had a stone building from 1450
