MOSCOW - SCENES

City Hall, once the residence of the governor, baron Z. G. Chernyshev. Following his death, the city permanently housed the Moscow city governors, in those days a military post, not civilian. The bricks were appropriated from the old walls of the Belyi gorod fortifications after Catherine II ordered it torn down. It is on Tver boulevard half way between the Kremlin and ring road where the Beli gorod wall stood.
