MOSCOW - SCENES

When Stalin tore down the Cathedral of our Savior he planned to built the tallest skyscraper in the world. But the foundations would not support this. So they built a swimming pool instead. I took this photo in 1964. Now the cathedral has been rebuilt and the huge hole for the pool and former skyscraper foundations had enabled the designers to put an underground garage and offices under the cathedral.
