In this view we see the statue of Tsar Nicholas I and more of the Mariinski palace beyond. The palace was ordered by Tsar Nicholas I in 1839 for his eldest daughter, maria and designed by Stakenschneider. Maria's heirs sold it to the state in 1894.After the revolution it became the Town hall and Leningrad City Soviet.
