BORODINO BATTLE - 1812

REENACTMENT 1999

Above we have the busts of General Bagration and Barclay de Tolly at the fine museum on the Borodino battlefield. Here we have many photos of the reenactment that took place on Sept. 5th 1999 and are showing 11 of them. Our correspondent didn't get photos of the infantry, but these views of cavalry action should be of interest to cavalrymen. Every year we are invited to stay overnight with the reenactors in camp or to remain in hotel and witness the reenactment. Anyone interested should contact Xenophon for possible future tours. We can combine the Borodino reenactment with one or more of the following: Volga River cruise, visit to historical and cultural locations in St Petersburg and Moscow, visit to Crimea, visit to Kaluga, Tula, and scenes from the Mongol invasion and medieval Russia. We plan to again have the Military History Institute as hosts in the Moscow region and directors of military museums as hosts in other regions.
