DAVID ROSTISLAVICH (1140 - 1197)

 
   
 

He was a son of Rostislav Mstislavich, grand prince of Kyiv who had earlier been sent to rule Smolensk, then returned to hold the throne at Kyiv. He was initially appanage prince of Vitebsk (1165 - 67). David became appanage prince of Smolensk for his father about 1180 to his death in 1197. His sons were Izyaslav, who was crown prince of Smolensk but died without heirs;Mstislav, and Konstantin, princes of Smolensk. He had two daughters. One daughter married Gleb Vladimirovich, prince of Ryazan. The family is on this chart.
