He was appanage prince of Polotsk between
about 1131 and 1146. His father was Svyatoslav
Vsyeslavich, prince of Polotsk. We have no information about his descendents.

It was in 1131 that the local magnates in Polotsk invited Vasil'ko to be
prince. Mstislav Vladimirovich, prince of Kyiv, had
just invaded and forced his father and several uncles into exile at Byzantium.
They returned after Mstislav's death in 1132.
