VASILII (VASIL'KO) YUR'YEVICH (12th cent)

 
   
 

He was the son of Yuri' Vladimirovich Dolgoruki, prince of Suzdal and his first wife, Anna, Polovtsi princess. Vasilii was made prince of Suzdal about in 1149 and then of Porossk 1155-61. In 1149 he, when his father took Kyiv, was in Suzdal. He participated in the following war of his father with Izyaslav II Mstislavich for Kiev Ub 1154 Yuri Vladimirovich again gained the grand prince throne in Kyiv and sent Valik'ko to be prince of Poros'ye, which was inhabited by the Torks and Berendyeyamii. After the death of his father in 1157, Vasil'ko again participated in the multi-sided war of the princes for Kyiv on the side of Rostislav Mstislavich and then he returned to Suzdal. He was thrown out of Suzdal in 1162 by his brother, Grand Prince Andri Yur'yevich Bogoliubski and fled with his mother and brothers, Mstislav, and Vyesvolod to Constaninople.
