VIEW UP TO CITY

Here we have just crossed the river-level, old bridge on the original road to the city gates. At the top of the crest on the left is the Church of Sts. Peter and Paul with its minaret. Along the ridge are the remaining buildings from several monasteries. The pointed peak of the lower "Polish" gate and hydrolytic works is visible in the trees. (See plan.)
