Another detail from a British map. Here we
see the entire Russian defense line. We have photos from bastion 1 (at the
point above the Carenage ravine and main harbor - Bastion 2 (little Redan)
Malakov - Bastion 3 (Redan) and Flagstaff Bastion. But the defense line from
Flagstaff to Quarantine is covered with city buildings now. The "Genoese
Fort" that the British thought medieval is actually the largely covered
over ruin of ancient Chersonese - the Greek colony. We have extensive
photography and description of Chernonese.
