He was a son of Yurii Mikhailovich, appanage prince of Tarussk. He
became appanage prince Obolenski. His sons were Ivan, also appanage prince Obolenski; and
Andrei, likewise appanage prince Obolensk. They
are shown in this family chart.
The Obolenski udel was at Obolensk in the Chernigiv lands. At the beginning of
the 14th century Konstantin Yur'yevich received the right to govern Obolensk
and became in effect the first prince of this udel. Apparently the Obolenski
princes lost the right to the udel at the end of the 15th century and then fled
from Lithuania, which by then had taken the whole region, since Petr Nikiticha
Obolenski, who died in 1498, was a boyar in Moscow service. One of the sons of
the first prince, Konstantin Yur'yevich, Andrei Konstantinovich, had sons who
were the founders of the princely houses of Dolgoruki, Shcherbatovski and
Trostenski. A great -great grandson, Nikita Ivanovich Obolenski, was the
founder of the princes Kurlyatevski. Another, Vasilii Ivanovich Kosoi was the
founder of the princes Striginski, Yaroslavski, Telepnevski and Nagiski.
Another great-grandson, Prince Semyon Ivanovich, was the founder of the princes
Gorenski, Zolotisk-Obolenski, Serebryanski-Obolenski. And another great-great
grandson, Vladimir Ivanovich Obolenski was the founder of the princes Likovski
and Kashinski.
